Frequently Asked Questions

SFLHRC uses an inspired Montessori approach to learning. The microgroup will feature a mixed age group with limited choice of learning. Students will learn in three big blocks of time, allowing for freedom of discovery and movement.

At this point, for 2024 – 2025, all of our students MUST be able to read. Starting in 2025 – 2026, SFLHRC will have a younger group of emerging readers.

If your child has had a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or phlegm within their coughing, it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to keep your child home. Let’s stay healthy together!
Yes, SFLHRC is an approved vendor with both FES-UA and PEP. At this point, we do not do direct pay. Instead, we ask parents to register and pre-pay for classes. Then, request a receipt. Once you receive the receipt, submit it to FES-UA or PEP for reimbursement.

At this point, for our first year, we have two microgroups.  The first one, our middle elementary, is for ages 7 – 10.  The second microgroup, our middle school, is for ages 11 – 14. 

During 2025 – 2026, we hope to expand to an age 5 – 7 microgroup and an age 14 – 17 microgroup. Please be patient! Excellence in programming comes to those who wait!

SFLHRC believes that children learn best while working alongside peers both young and older than themselves. In addition to their individualized curriculum, every student will work in mixed age groups! This allows students to learn from one another.

Using a block learning model allows our students time to immerse themselves in the content area. Additionally, it allows small groups and 1:1 instruction.

SFLHRC Microgroups are student-centered, and the schedule is subject to change based on the day’s events!


Your tuition covers almost everything. Students are expected to bring:

  1. Refillable Water Bottles
  2. Healthy snacks
  3. A Full Lunch.  Please note that refrigeration and microwave is NOT available at this time.
  4. Backpack with a supplied pencil box,  folders, paper, and journals.  Specific directions will be provided one month prior to the beginning of Microgroup classes.
  5. Cash if you would like your child to purchase a snack from the snack cart. Each snack is individually packaged and sells for $1.00 each.
